9月申請美國大學(xué)太晚么？

IS IT TOO LATE TO APPLY TO THE USA FOR COLLEGE IN SEPTEMBER

　　在美國一共有2200個授權(quán)的4年制學(xué)位授予院校。去年3月1日，在大學(xué)申請者已經(jīng)寄送出他們的押金以后，仍然有265個院?？梢越邮沾笠恍律?。在大學(xué)第二或者第三年有278個地方可以接收交換生?？紤]一下吧。一直到3月1日之前，申請美國大學(xué)都不晚。

　　In America, there are 2,211 accredited, four-year degree program colleges and universities. Last year on May 1, after college applicants had sent in their deposit for freshman year, there were still 265 colleges that had more space available for freshman. There were　278 places for transfer students in 2nd and 3rd years of university. Think of it! You are not too late to apply to university in America and you have until May 1 to apply.

　　對于已經(jīng)考過雅思或者托福的中國高校學(xué)生來說，幾乎永遠(yuǎn)都不晚。如果你考過SAT或者ACT或者有AP分?jǐn)?shù)，那么你就已經(jīng)做好申請的準(zhǔn)備了。如果沒考過雅思或者托福，那就趕緊考一次吧?？寄囊粋€并不重要，美國大學(xué)都是接受的。你能提交的國際性的考試成績越多，就越能證明你的學(xué)業(yè)水平。如果沒有這些分?jǐn)?shù)，也沒有關(guān)系，仍然有很多學(xué)校會接收你，這取決于你的英語熟練程度和高中成績。

　　It is almost never to late for Chinese high school graduates who have taken an English proficiency test, the IELTS or the TOEFL. If you have taken the SAT or the ACT or have AP exam scores you are ready to apply. If you have not yet taken the IELTS or the TOEFL, then take one or the other of them! It doesn’t matter which one you take. Both are acceptable for U.S. admissions. The more international test scores you can show, the better you can document your academic record. If you have not taken any SAT, ACT or AP exams, then there are still colleges and universities who may accept you without them, depending on your English proficiency and high school record.

　　比方說你不需要有任何考試，即使是有關(guān)英語的考試，也可以申請。如果你可以說，讀，寫，聽英語，那么你可以申請有條件錄取。大學(xué)會接收你，安排你到一個英語學(xué)習(xí)項(xiàng)目中直到你的英語足夠好了，可以在教室里上課了。

　　Let’s say you don’t have any exams whatsoever! Not even an English proficiency exam. If you can speak English, read, write, and listen in English, you can apply for a Conditional Acceptance. That is, the university will accept you and put you in an English learning program until you learn enough English to study in a regular classroom.

　　注意，如果你學(xué)不好英語你可能會在那個英語學(xué)習(xí)項(xiàng)目學(xué)習(xí)十年?；ㄙM(fèi)跟你上大學(xué)是一樣的。更好的計劃是呆在中國，先學(xué)好英語之后保證你可以申請一個競爭性低一點(diǎn)的學(xué)校。雅思5分或者6分，你就可以申請美國大學(xué)了。

　　BEWARE! You may have to stay in that English study for ten years without ever getting into the college courses if you can’t learn English. And it will cost you as much as going to the university. The better plan may be to stay in China, live at home, and learn English well enough to get into a less competitive university, say with a 5 or 6 on the IELTS or a 61 TOEFL score, and then apply to the American universities.

　　For those Senior 3s who have at least an English Proficiency score in IELTS or TOEFL and have not yet applied to college, or who applied only to the most selective in the USA, where the whole world is applying, here are a list of sixteen colleges and universities who have a late application date. Most are for May 1 and a few are for June. Look for these colleges on the Web, look at Zinch.com to read more about each of these colleges. Choose six or eight that sound best to you and apply now.
